Get your creative on at Maitland Regional Art Gallery

While the weather is still warming up and there are days of grey, there are plenty of activities to be had indoors, but out of the house. The Maitland Regional Art Gallery is a fantastic place to entertain kids of all ages – and grown-ups too.

Every Sunday the gallery hosts a free art day, where families are invited to drop in and get creative.

The sessions run from 11am until 1pm and you don’t need to pre-book. Each activity takes around 30 minutes to complete, however children are not to be left unattended.

Activities are run by qualified art teachers and are designed to encourage both parents and children get involved in a hands-on task, inspired by the exhibitions on display in the gallery.

All materials are provided by CleverPatch and allows children the chance to explore their inner creativity and observation, while getting a deeper understanding of the artwork surrounding them.

This family-friendly environment lets children and parents have fun together, while discovering a new wonderful world of art.

While you are at the gallery, be sure to check out the gallery’s annual art sale.

More than 300 paintings, prints and sculptures will be available to purchase, with prices starting at only $50.

It’s your chance to own an original artwork and support established and emerging artists from our region and around the country.

Funds raised help the gallery’s members’ program which in turn, allows for events to happen such as the Free Art Sunday initiative.
