A Historical Town

Maitland was Formerly known as Schanck’s Forest Plains and is steeped in history. Formed in the early 1800s when Lieutenant-Colonel Paterson first explored the Hunter Valley the town was named in 1833.

The collective name for two townships known as Central and East Maitland.  It boasts a vast number of historical buildings, educational and medical facilities and home to a superb mall known as The Levee

It is known for it’s many heritage walks and eclectic mix of classic and modern architecture that will allow you to take a glance into the yesteryears. Whilst offering convenient access to transport hubs such as the Maitland Station, Residents enjoy convenience of living. Less than 10mins from Stockland Green Hills, 20mins from the Hunter Valley’s wineries, 35mins from Newcastle.

There’s much to see! The Grand Junction Hotel built in 1916, Sherbourne located in Church Street , The Grossman House and Brough House which was built in 1870-1871, St Mary’s Rectory, St Mary’s Church, The Former Synagogue, The Maitland Court House sitting at the corner of High Street and Sempill Street, The Bank of Australasia, The Levee, Gaol, Maitland Regional Art Gallery and so much more.

Maitland Public School located in Elgin Street,  All Saints’ COLLEGE, St Peter’s Campus  in Free Church Street, St John the Baptist Primary School in Victoria Street, All Saints’ College, St Mary’s Campus  and in Grant Street.

Maitland Hospital is just located in the heart of the city in High Street. There’s also the Private Hospital on Chisolm Road and the new Hospital on Metford Road.
